Be Careful Not to Criticize Someone's MinistryGreetings Reader Have you ever felt certain that someone else wasn't doing ministry the way they should? Early in our marriage, Cindy and I answered God's call to enter full-time children's evangelistic ministry. Much to our surprise, not everyone encouraged us. Some people questioned our decision, while others openly criticized it. Thankfully, we followed God's direction instead of allowing those voices to stop us. The Lord gave us eight wonderful years of ministering to children before calling us into pastoral ministry. That experience makes something Jesus said in Matthew 26 especially meaningful to me. When Mary poured expensive perfume on Jesus, the disciples didn't applaud her devotion. They criticized her and called it a waste. But Jesus saw her actions very differently. That raises an important question for all of us: Have we ever criticized something another person did for the Lord simply because we wouldn't have done it that way? In today's devotion, Be Careful Not to Criticize Someone's Ministry, we'll look at Mary's experience and what Jesus' response can teach us about our own opinions, criticism, and even our unsolicited advice.
