Christian Perspectives - Is Your Name Written in the Lamb's Book of Life?

Written In The Lamb's Book Of Life

Greetings Reader

It has been my goal to write a devotion on each of the Psalms. As I got further into this journey, two things occurred to me. First, there are 150 of them! Second, some of them are much harder to write about than others.

Psalm 87 is one of those Psalms.

It has no dramatic storyline or obvious crisis. But as I read it, one thing caught my attention: God keeps a record of those who belong to Him.

When the Lord registers the nations, he will say, “They have all become citizens of Jerusalem.” Psalm 87:6

That immediately brought to my mind the Lamb's Book of Life.

Psalm 87 speaks about citizenship, belonging, and God recording names. The New Testament takes those truths even further. It tells us that those who put their faith in Jesus Christ are citizens of heaven—and their names are registered there.

Jesus told His disciples, “Rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.” Luke 10:20

That's something worth rejoicing about!

In today's devotion, we'll follow that thread from Psalm 87 all the way to the Lamb's Book of Life and discover what it means to know that you belong to Christ and your citizenship is in heaven.

Enjoy today's devotion, and share it with someone who could use this encouragement.

God Bless

Robin

When Life Feels Unfair: Trust in God’s Righteous Judgment Greetings Reader Have you ever looked at a situation and thought, “This just isn't right”? Sometimes the wicked seem to prosper while innocent people suffer. We pray, wait, and wonder why God hasn't done something about it. Psalm 94 reminds us of something we need to remember when life feels unfair: God sees, God knows, and God will act. The Lord will not reject his people; he will not abandon his special possession. Psalm 94:14 God...

Does the Old Testament Law Still Apply Today? Greetings Reader If Christians are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, what purpose does the Old Testament law still serve? Did Jesus do away with it, or does it still have value for believers today? In Galatians 3, the apostle Paul explains how God's promise and His law work together. The law was never meant to replace God's grace. Instead, it reveals our need for a Savior and points us to Jesus Christ. If you've ever wondered how the...

Sing A New Song To The Lord! Greetings Reader Sing a new song to the Lord! Let the whole earth sing to the Lord! Sing to the Lord; praise his name. Each day proclaim the good news that he saves. Psalm 96:1-2 The phrase "new song" appears nine times in the New Living Translation. Psalm 40 says that God gave David a new song, while several other Psalms call God's people to sing a new song of praise. But what makes Psalm 96 especially interesting is that it doesn't stop with singing. It calls us...
